Important Tips For Improving Your Golf Swing

The game of golf is a unique sport. The principles are the same for everyone; yet, because of the differences in people’s body types no two individuals will ever possess the same golf swing. Each will need to accommodate their bodies to do a correct golf swing inside their particular manner. Taking the time to develop your process of playing golf will significantly enhance your pleasure and success in the game. Practice the fundamental principles of the game till they’re ingrained in your muscles. This will cause self-assurance in the class, and that assurance will bring about enjoyment and success of the game.

Golf, Ball, Golfer, Player, Man, Golfing, Tee, Club

Some of the very basic steps that you see an instant improvement to your golf swing and can place into action will be to maintain your head still and look directly at the ball. The place of your head ought to be straight in line with your back, as well as your nose should be raised up a bit so that when you begin to swing, your left shoulder lies under your chin. Many players tuck their heads in their torsos to try to keep their heads and look directly down at the golf ball. Sadly, they can’t perform a correct golf swing while in this posture.

If you’re one of an eye on the ball and the many that are having trouble keeping your head right attempt the following. Next time assume the proper posture with knees and your feet in place but keep your back and head straight, bend forward slightly at the waist and look directly at the ball. Should you attempt to take a swing in this location, your left shoulder will most probably hit your chin. Keeping your eyes on the ball, lift your head until your left shoulder doesn’t strike at your chin. Ensure that by keeping your eyes, your head will not go from side to side. Go through the backswing and downswing parts of your golf swing. Don’t hit at the ball and do the follow through. This part of your golf swing focusing on keeping your head and eyes on the ball.

Golfer, Golfing, Golf Swing, Man, Golf Ball, Tee

You should practice this exercise in your yard for about 25 times in a row after which take a rest and relax a little, and then start again. Make small corrections to body posture and your head as needed to keep your eyes right on your left shoulder as well as the ball from hitting your chin. This exercise will “train” your body, as well as your muscles, will “recall” the right posture you should be in to do the move right. Think about any sports sportsman, they train to put their bodies in the right posture and posture to correctly perform the moves needed to achieve success in their specific sport and train. You’re doing something similar by “training” your body to maintain your head right and place itself so that one can successfully do a correct golf swing.

Another basic step that could operate significantly towards boosting your golf swing would be to relax. Understandably, it is easier said than done, particularly when you’re preparing to place all your power into drive with an audience of your coworkers, or better still your buddies who Won’t allow you to forget it should you mess up. Nevertheless, loosening your muscles can help you to keep up the correct balance that’s essential to a great golf swing. Whatever the golf clubs you use, your equilibrium is the most important basis of your golf swing, as well as the method to attain good equilibrium would be to practice. Try holding it there for about 30 seconds, relax your body and a great way to practice improving your equilibrium would be to assume the approach posture using your club. Does it feel as if you’ve more weight on one foot or the other? Is one part of your body more anxious another?

Keeping great equilibrium and keeping your head right are only two fundamental elements of an excellent golf swing. The exercises given above are only two ways you could begin training to boost your golf swing. It’s possible for you to work on either one individually, or join them into one exercise. Enhancing your golf swing finishes and starts with you. Training the muscles of your body to perform correctly particular moves takes training plus time. The class will be paid off on by the attempt spent improving your golf swing. Through training and exercise, you’ll have the ability to steal into the correct address location and perform a powerful and effortless golf swing and feel like your hands were sliding into a warm, soft glove.

Don’t Let Winter Make You Miss Out On Golf

I still recall years ago when I began to play golf, the tip you heard the most was “keep your head still.” My dad used to say it to me at least 50 times a round. He believed he was doing me a favor, when actually, he should have been telling me to do the precise reverse. He should’ve been saying “move your head a little on the way back.”

Why transfer your head as you take the club back? Because to swing in a circular motion you require an axis to swing around, you need to transfer weight with your head. An axis has a bottom and also a top. When you set up to the golf ball, you’ve 1 top to an axis (your head) and 2 undersides (your legs and feet) to an axis. What this means is that on the way back your head ought to be moving 3 – 5 inches to the right to be able to make your first axis to swing around. Your head will remain there as you come down and fall even farther back through impact. Subsequently, following the ball was hit, your head will move around the very top of the left leg to generate another axis. This second axis allows you  circular spinning in your golf swing letting you complete your swing. So what you have is a floating top to an axis. When you swing, your head floats back and forth to create 2 axis. This enables you to swing in a circular motion. It is not a perfect circle. It is a small ellipse. You won’t ever hit the ball 100% perfect since your swing is a little oval.

If you had one leg, the single time you’d keep your head is. You have 1 top and 1 bottom to an axis, in the event, you had one leg. What this means is that if you shifted your head, you’d ruin this axis. So perhaps we all should be playing keeping our head still and standing on one leg? Sadly, this won’t ever work as you won’t produce enough electricity and you’ll most likely fall over. A lot of folks have sufficient trouble keeping their balance with 2 legs never mind 1, so it is best that you learn to transfer your head and keep both legs on the earth.

Golf, Golfing, Sport, Shot, Game, Ball, Green, Course

Once I tell them to, but they have a difficult time doing it because it feels uncomfortable for their sake to transfer their head, most folks I instruct, attempt to shift their head back. You have to feel like your head is moving about 1 foot to the right to get the correct feeling. In the event you feel like 1 foot is transferring to the right in route back, it’ll just go several inches. Attempt swinging consistently towards a mirror. As you observe yourself swing, you can certainly see in case your head is moving back 3-5 inches. As your head moves back, feel the way your weight loads into the correct leg. This is the telltale sign which you have created your first axis in the backswing. You’ll have to transfer your head should you not have a jam-packed, strong feeling in your right leg. In the event, you are wearing a hat when you play golf only look to see whether the brim of the hat is level to the earth not leaned to the left and took your backswing. In case, the brim of the hat is level to the earth on top of your backswing the correct number will have transferred. As a final test only ask a buddy to watch your head see whether it moves several inches back or make use of a video camera to see for yourself. In case, your head is overly still afterward always remind yourself to move it back or have someone always remind you to “move your head“.

Beware that it might cause you to hit behind the ball a little, as you move your head back. It is a great hint in the beginning. It is telling you that you’re transferring your head back, but you have an excessive amount of weight on your right foot at impact. To repair hitting behind the ball (fat shots), all you need to do is feel slightly more weight shift off of your right foot through impact. In the event you do, you’ll hit the ball flawlessly and with more power than you’re used to.

Ball Is In Bunker – But You Are Not

If you find that your ball is in the bunker, but you are standing on the outside of the bunker, you can pretty much guarantee that you are going to have a difficult stance.  You are likely going to be standing above the ball, so you need to be careful with your stance.

hitting outside of the sandThe first thing you want to do is to access the lie.  Are you going to be able to clear the lip of the bunker?  Are you hitting from soft sand or do you have to dig at the ball because you are laying in hard sand in the bunker?  This obviously matters in the type of swing you make.

The next thing you want to do is to widen your stance, so you are lowering your entire body a bit.  You want to bend from your knees in this instance, do not bend from your waist.  Bending from your waist will not allow you to swing with your upper body.  For this type of shot, you should keep your legs and feet still and swing by using your arms and shoulders.  Stay centered over the ball and let the club slide under it, as you would normally do when hitting out of the bunker.  Take your stance away from the ball and take a few practice swings.  You want to simulate the actual shot in this instance.

One of the mistakes many amateurs make is that the practice swing does not mimic the real shot.  If you are hitting outside of a bunker like the above scenario, or hitting on a downhill or uphill lie, you want to take the actual swing you are going to make prior to hitting the ball.  Being off by just a half of an inch when you make impact with the ball is going to cause your trajectory to be off significantly.  Remember, when you mishit a shot like this, the longer the ball travels, the more off-line it is going to be.  So if you hit it 150 out of the bunker, but miss-hit the ball by an inch, you may find yourself in a different fairway, or worse yet, out of bounds.  Simply practice the swing you intend on making before you take your actual swing.  For more tips, be sure to check back with The Texas Golf Trail daily and watch your golf game improve with every round.

Phil Mickelson Angry Over Golf Wager

Most people that follow golf on the PGA Tour know that Phil Mickelson enjoys wagering.  Lefty enjoys betting with fellow competitors, and has been known to rub his winnings in the faces of his colleagues, like the time he made copies of the $100 bills he took from Tiger. However, Mickelson doesn’t seem to enjoy the fact that a newcomer on the tour took some money off him just a few weeks ago.

“We get on the first tee, it’s pretty early in the morning and he says, ‘I don’t wake up this early to play for any less than $2,500’,” Ruffels recalled of a friendly offer made to him by Mickelson. The 42-time US PGA Tour winner gave Ruffels 2-1 odds; if Ruffels won, Mickelson would give him $5,000, if he lost, Ruffels would have to pay up $2,500 when he turned professional.

“I was a few down through nine but then I birdied six of my last seven to win by one shot and took his money, so that was pretty cool,” Ruffels said with a laugh.

Oh, and because Ruffels was also playing with Phil’s brother, Tim Mickelson, who is the head golf coach at Arizona State, there were conspiracy theories that this was some giveaway to the 17-year-old that the NCAA might have an interest investigating.

As soon as the story went viral, young Ruffels and his management team started to backtrack — saying he had already turned pro (or planned to turn pro), the amount was greatly exaggerated, and that the story contained plenty of inaccuracies. “The ‘friendly wager’ and the birdie barrages’ reporting is a bit overdone.”

The story was already out before Mickelson made his 2016 debut last week in Palm Springs. It did not come up then, but with the return to Torrey Pines, site of the wager, and with Ruffels making his pro debut this week, Mickelson decided to address it on Wednesday. And, boy, did he not have time for this 17-year-old’s s**t:  Read more about Mickelson’s response here.

Golf’s Premier Event – The PGA Merchandise Show

The biggest event in golf iPGA Merchandise Shows taking place in Orlando this weekend, as more than 40,000 golf fans and professionals take part in the PGA Merchandise show held annually this time of year. This is the one time each year golf club manufactures and inventors launch and display new golf merchandise in one place including the best golf equipment, apparel, and training aids.

“It’s the Super Bowl of the golf business,” Cobra Puma CEO Bob Philion told CNBC. “There is no other place where we can see as many accounts in these three days.”

While the eye-catching equipment and apparel get a lot of attention, many industry insiders are keeping a close eye on the future of the game.

“The show is really the one time during the year where the entire industry comes together, under one roof, to project on the future and where golf can go,” TaylorMade-Adidas Golf CEO David Abeles said in an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

There’s no doubt that golf has seen its share of struggles and hardships over the past few years. Questions remain about the strength of the global economy, and how the game can grow in a world where Tiger Woods plays less of a role than he once did. Still, recent trends have given many golfers a renewed sense of optimism.” Continue reading about The PGA Merchandise Show.

Accelerate Through Your Putts

It is pretty common for the pros to knock down 3 to 5 footers all day long.  For the average golfer, these putts can cause us quite a bit of anxiety and frustration.  We all know that the more putts we make within 5 feet, the lower our scores are going to be.  Here is some quick advice on draining more of these putts, and taking a little bit of cash from your opponents this year.

The first thing you really need to understand is that the more hesitant you are with your stroke, the more likely you are to bring more break into play.  When we tap the ball slowly at the hole, every bit of break comes into play.  You may look at the putt and say this is a straight putt, but if the ball is dying towards the hole, the chances are you are going to have quite a bit of movement right around the hole.  The key is acceleration of the putter head, not deceleration.

Many players from beginners to the pros decelerate or stop the putter at the ball on these putts.  If you decelerate, you will often come up short which gives you zero chance of holing it.  What is the saying…..Never up never in?  Yeah, it is 100% accurate.

How To Make More Short Putts

Pick the line you want the ball to travel, knowing that you are rolling the ball all the way to the hole. The hole is simply going to get in the way of the ball and drop.

Take a short backstroke and let the putter go through the ball so that it keeps moving after contact.  You want to feel that you are “rolling” the ball forward.  Most of the time when we miss these short putts we look more like we are hitting a hammer with a nail, and stopping at impact.  Think short back stroke, and longer follow through.

putting through the ballIt is also recommended that you keep your head down through the ball.  I have friends that actually still have their head downs as the ball drops in the hole.  This is a bit of an over-exaggeration, but this will absolutely keep you from lifting your head at impact and throwing the ball a bit off of line.

Finally, practice these putts most often on the putting green prior to your round.  You are going to have plenty of 3 to 5 footers, so feeling confident about draining each one is going to carry on to the golf course.

Hitting Out Of Hard Sand In The Bunker

One of the most frustrating things you may encounter while playing a round is the difference in the sand on the golf course.  You may hit out of one bunker that has soft and loose sand, then play out of another that has compacted sand.  Getting out of the bunker in either instance is going to require a different type of shot.  What we want to do today is help you get out of the sand in one and as close to the pin as possible when hitting from hard sand in the bunker.

Take a look at this lie below.  Not only are you hitting out of hard sand, but you are also partially buried.  There are three things that could potentially happen in this case.

  1. You leave it in the bunker
  2. You hit the top of the ball and send it over the head of your playing partners
  3. You knock it on the green.

Lets focus on keeping high numbers off of the card and knocking it close to the pin.

hard sand in the bunker

Sometimes after a period of rain, the sand in the bunkers may become hard, so that is it difficult to slide your sand wedge under the ball, as you normally do.  If you try a standard bunker shot, the sole of the wedge will bounce into the ball and send it flying over the green.  The best way to handle this type of sand is to use a pitching wedge and square up the face so that the club will not bounce off of the sand.  Play the ball back a little in your stance and chip the ball out by striking it first and then let the club enter the sand in front of where the ball was.  The ball will come out but might not have much spin, so allow for that extra distance.  Although you may have a long putt, it is better than being over the green and pitching or chipping back at the hole.

Eliminate The First Tee Jitters

If someone were to ask you what is the biggest fear that you hold deep in your mind, you would probably respond with  public speaking…unless you are a golfer. Yeah, you know what I am talking about.

The First TeeFind out the best way to beat first tee jitters and relax your nerves. Keep Your Anxiety in Check.  Is one shot such a huge deal if you are going to hit on several more throughout the day? I believe there are plenty of motives, but it is frequently described that is a major variable on the initial tee and that anxiety is because of the unknown. You only do not understand what is going to occur. Are you going to stripe it down the center (how you ought to be thinking)? Is it going to fly out and right of bounds? Are you going to embarrass yourself and top it? It is that unknown and get one’s heart rate and expectation that could set the nerves on edge. You could emotionally prepare, in the event you understood you were planning to top it, and it may not be that big of a deal.

Players Worry the First Tee For Unique Motives

anxiety on the first tee
The folks here at the Texas Golf Trail believe the anxiety differs however for different players. Status beginners frequently worry that they top it, pop it up, will whiff the ball or hit some awkward shot. An experienced player regularly suffers a bit of the same, but so they might knock the ball out of bounds or into trouble a high amount of the initial hole. A touring professional, on the other hand, is nervous from adrenaline understanding they’re in the hunt. Where he said he consistently had butterflies on the initial tee, I heard a quotation years back by Jack Nicklaus. This is because he understood he could win. Would you be nervous? No matter what the amount you play at and no matter the reason behind your first tee jitters, they could be difficult to get in check, but it is possible. There are measures you can take to tone it down, but like I said before, particularly for players that are competitive, they’re not always a bad thing.

Keeping Nerves in Check is Potential With These 4 Tips

The key would be to take a breath, then begin your backswing instantly after you have exhaled. This enables you to start your movement in the precise instant your body is at its most comfortable.  Take your address location. Ensure your regular swing routine (that is, any waggles or another motion) is entire.

Wait until you have exhaled the breath that is whole, and then promptly start your takeaway. Your swing believed should be: “Deflate, then begin.”

1) Recall it is just one shot. It is simple to reduce perspective, but for a lot of golfers they’re going to hit 90 plus shots anyhow, and this is just one shot.

2) Understand nobody cares, but you. I am aware of; it is simple to get caught up in what others believe, however in the very long run no one cares the manner in which you play except you or what you shoot as well as no one will recall what you did anyhow. It is somewhat egocentric of ourselves, but we consider that the shots care or affect others that which we score, and we hit. Unless we’re slowing them down on the class, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Individuals will remember who won, but whether you come in 140th, 34th, or second place, no one will remember. Do you recall every occasion what all the other players shot, and you played in, and they set? Likely not. The one man who cares is you, so quit worrying about what others believe.

3) be sure to get and keep a suitable pre-shot routine. It will help to get you in a zone that is mental. If it’s not inconsistent, odds are your swing and results are likely to be consistent, and this can reduce miss hits. Focusing in your routine as well as your goal gets your focus off of yourself as well as your nerves. It is simple when you get nervous so here is when you should focus more intensely on the measures you take to get ready for the shot and stay consistent to get from the routine.

Deep breathing from your diaphragm (stomach region) will help slow your pulse and relax your nerves. That will just keep us amped up. You have to do the same and on all shots do it for that matter, not only on the very first tee. Begin the heavy breaths while some are teeing off before you step up to the first tee, though. Then go through your routine before you start the team back and take a long deep breath right.  You can also find some other mental tips for golf here in order to conquer your fears and begin to play better golf the next time you tee off.

From Bogeys To Birdies

Less Bogeys and More Birdies

You can buy a lower score, by buying the right equipment for you,
and by buying the right kind of golf knowledge that you can apply
immediately to your game.

The PGA model, which is a square to the target set-up is wrong for
about 80% of all golfers. Those that do use it make 2 fatal errors at set-up:
Out of alignment with the target, mostly through the shoulders.
grounding the club and changing the grip before takeaway.

There are four shots in golf:

1)   Tee shot
2)  Approach shot
3)  Recovery shot
4)  Putts

Those make the T-A-R-P system, which covers the mental side of golf.

Most golfers who play an unknown course will shoot anywhere from
2 to 10 times higher than their handicap, because they don’t know
the layout.

golf course layout

One way to overcome the lack of local course knowledge is to have
good overall golf knowledge, especially on how golf courses are
laid out, the topography of the course, the length and slope of
the course, the layout about the sun and wind patterns
and knowing your own game and staying within the game plan.

You can add distance to your game by the right equipment, and
by developing a more powerful swing.

The easiest and fastest way to get permanent improvement and
lower your handicap is to eliminate the mental mistakes from
your game.

The object is to learn how to play your very best golf,
every time you go out. A worthy ideal, and like the perfect round,
an impossibility to achieve, but none-the-less, a worthy goal, right?

Have you been swinging the broom?

Have you been tensing your toes and body and practicing the
relaxation techniques?

Have you tried the weight shift to the inside of the back foot
at the range to add a few more yards to your tee shots?

Have you thought about the courses you regularly play regarding
the topography, drainage, wind direction, sun direction?

Are you a serious student of the game? Do you desire
instant improvement?

Well, this was to be a brief review. I’ll be back to pick up
where we left off, and also I’ll begin to answer questions
for you also.

Remember, one way for instant and permanent improvement in golf
(and maybe even in life) is to: SLOW DOWN AND FOLLOW THROUGH.
